Dear Fellow Mobile Home Residents,
It is with much hope for 2021 that I reach out to you today. My name is Tamara Janies and I have been working on Space Rent Stabilization for mobile home owners in El Dorado County for the last 3 ½ years. Many of you have supported Space Rent Stabilization but when Covid hit, there was no way to organize or meet, but it didn’t stop Kathy Kniffen and I from continuing to work behind the scenes. The Board of Supervisors of El Dorado County has heard our cry for protection, and has planned to address Space Rent Stabilization in January of 2021! Fantastic News!
Now we have to make them understand what we are facing and here are the ways you can help: I need stories of hardship, loss of equity, forced eviction and the very real fear that we all face as mobile home owners, in this current predatory market. The Board of Supervisors wants to hear our stories, and it is crucial that we make it clear the hardships we face. Especially when you consider that the Social Security increase for 2021 is 1.2%. Many of you are facing increases in 2021 of 10% or more. How long can you remain in your home if these predatory corporations are allowed to continue unregulated?
You can look up the Supervisor who represents you based on your home address at https://www.edcgov.us/Government/BOS. Please share your personal stories and history about owning your home but renting the space from your park owner.
