COMMUNITY LAND BANK BEING ESTABLISHED ON THE WESTERN SLOPE
HED and El Dorado Community Foundation (EDCF) are collaborating to establish the El Dorado Land Bank similar to the Tahoe Land Bank. This will allow Western Slope residents to create a legacy by ensuring affordable housing for generations to come. If the transaction of selling or buying your home results in significant capital gain, you may be able to offset all or a portion of that gain by working with your realtor and escrow agent to include a capital gain offset at the time of closing with a charitable contribution to the Western Slope Land Bank.
The mission of the Land Banks are to acquire and build homes that will be sold to our income-qualified essential workers consisting of teachers, nurses, police officers, fire personnel, EMTs, and all the people we depend on in restaurants, grocery stores, and the hospitality industry. Buyers of Land Bank homes will still earn equity on their purchases. Please let us know if you have land or buildings that you would like to make a charitable contribution to develop affordable and supportive housing in El Dorado County.
